Thrush is a fungal infection, commonly caused by a type of yeast called candida. Although candida is naturally present in the body, an imbalance can trigger thrush symptoms. Fluconazole 150mg (also known as Diflucan and other brand names) kills certain types of fungi and restores your body's natural balance.
Fluconazole treatment for thrush is simple - just one capsule to be swallowed with a glass of water. You can take this medicine at any time of day, with or without a meal.
Women taking fluconazole should see an improvement within a few days. Some women will notice improvement in 24 hours.
For men, the condition can take a little longer to clear up. The symptoms should clear up within a few days, although this can take up to a week.
If your condition hasn't cleared up within one week, you should consult a doctor.
Thrush is an infection which can occur without sexual contact, so it is not a sexually transmitted disease. However, the infection can be passed on during sex, so it is recommended that you should not have sex until the infection has cleared up.
If you regularly suffer from thrush, then it's advisable that both you and your partner have thrush treatment at the same time.
Taking too much can make you unwell, so contact your doctor or nearest hospital immediately if you take more than you should.
As with any medicine, there are side effects. Although a serious allergic reaction to fluconazole is rare. Common side effects (occurring in one in ten patients) include nausea, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, wind, rash and headache. However, these side effects are usually mild and don't tend to last long. If symptoms persist, or are particularly severe, contact your doctor.

Diflucan is used to treat vaginal candidiasis (a fungal infection of the vagina). It works by preventing the growth of fungi and yeast (cariesofetals). It is also used to treat thrush (a vaginal yeast infection).
This medicine comes in the form of a tablet. You dose you will take it according to the amount of diflucan you are taking. Your doctor will decide the amount of diflucan you will take based on the amount you are taking. This medicine is only one unit of time. It is not a full treatment. You may take this medicine with or without food. To help you remember, take it your day before it gets bad. Take it at the same time daily. Do not take more or use it more often than needed. To help you remember, take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. The amount of medicine in your pessary will depend on the nature of your vaginal fungal infection and the recommended amount of diflucan you are taking. Fluconazole belongs to a group of medicines called antifungals. It is used to treat the symptoms of a certain type of fungal or yeast infection.
It can be used to treat the symptoms of certain fungal infections such as vaginal candidiasis, fungal skin infections and vaginal candidosis. Fluconazole can also be used to prevent or treat infections in your lungs (pulmonaryfungi), in your brain (neuroblastoma), and in your intestines (nausea and vomiting).

The most common side effects of fluconazole that you may experience are abdominal pain, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, or abdominal cramps. The symptoms of fluconazole toxicity include muscle weakness, weakness, slurred speech, easy swallowing, and abnormal ejaculation (ejaculation that is not normal). If these symptoms persist, they are more likely to do more damage to your nervous system than if they are new or unusual.

Fluconazole is used to treat serious fungal or yeast infections, including vaginal candidiasis, oropharyngeal candidiasis (thrush, oral thrush), esophageal candidiasis (candida esophagitis), other candida infections (including urinary tract infections, peritonitis [inflammation of the lining of the stomach], and infections that may occur in different parts of the body), or fungal (cryptococcal) meningitis. It is also used in children on life support called extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). This medicine works by killing the fungus or yeast, or preventing its growth. Fluconazole is also used to prevent candidiasis in patients having bone marrow transplants who receive cancer or radiation treatment.

Side Effects
Common fluconazole side effects include nausea, headache, and stomach pain. Diarrhea is also possible. Mild side effects tend to resolve on their own or go away when you finish your treatment course.
